Hackney Family Garden

The contemporary feel of the interior and extension was carried through into the garden with the design and detailing of the hard materials. Moving into a looser layout towards the end of the garden around the pond.

The materiality of the garden was kept simple with one unifying texture throughout, reclaimed London stock bricks on vertical and horizontal planes, to match the house exterior and neighbouring properties. Detail was brought in using treated oak to surround the central bed and later long oak benches will be added.

The planting has a natural feel using grasses combined with perennials for foliage, colour and interest. Multi-stem trees & shrubs create atmosphere and add structure. Layered underneath, a succession of perennial planting changes though each year as the seasons unfold.
